Health and Safety Update – 2020-03-10
Dear iLoveKickboxing Franchisees,
We understand your growing concerns regarding the Coronavirus and how to protect your staff and your members. In response, we are proactively preparing a Coronavirus response plan and beginning to implement additional procedures to protect our ILKB members and staff as well as our franchisees and brand.
As a general matter, we encourage you to increase the frequency and thoroughness with which you clean your studios with special emphasis placed on high-traffic areas and frequently touched surfaces, such as doors and doorknobs, countertops, railings, tables, chairs, touch screens, bags, mat areas, washrooms, and POS systems.
For guidance, please consider the hand hygiene protocol from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), because the disease is most frequently spread from person-to-person contact. As for cleaning protocols, we understand that there is evidence that Coronavirus may remain on surfaces for hours or even days. Therefore, we have updated our recommendations on the Daily Operations Cleaning Checklist (next page). While we understand that many franchisees use Odor Agent products to clean their studios, at this time, you should only consider those disinfectants/cleaners that are clearly marked as U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registered, because they have proven to be effective against this virus. Please visit this page for a list and remember to use these products as directed: https://www.americanchemistry.com/Novel-Coronavirus-Fighting-Products-List.pdf.
In addition to the updated Daily Operations Cleaning Checklist, we encourage you to implement the following in your studios:
Temporarily suspend “high-fives” between individuals from the class plan after the warm-up;
Use disinfectant on all surfaces between every class;*
Provide disinfectant wipes or spray bottles with disinfectant and paper towels for members to wipe down bags before and/or after class;
Temporarily suspect the penalty for late cancellations to encourage members to stay home, if they are not feeling well;
Recommend that employees stay home if they are feeling ill;
Ensure hand sanitizer is readily available throughout the studio;
Encourage members to wash their hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, before and after class;
Review and stress the importance of cleaning procedures with your staff;
As you may recall, it has never been our recommendation to provide members with “loaner gloves,” and we encourage you to continue following this practice.
We also encourage you to let your members know that we have taken these extra measures to ensure their safety. Our plans will be continually reviewed, updated and circulated across the system to give you further guidance in the management of the day-to-day operations of your studios. Measured and proactive steps, such as those outlined above, will allow ILKB and its franchisees to minimize potential Coronavirus risks to our business until we have a better understanding of the true nature and severity of the virus.
*Different products may be appropriate for different surfaces. Please remember to use products as directed.
